Detached property in Melton Mowbray
This garden was very much a blank canvas as it was a new build house. It was an awkward space to design and I also felt loath to get rid of all the relatively new paving slabs, as unattractive as they were. So, they were lifted and relaid on an angle with the added feature of contrasting plank paving to add interest and break up the large area. The new angle was parallel to the neighbours garden and formed the basis of the lines and angles for the whole garden.
Raised beds and steps up to the lawn area dealt with the height change in the garden and we zoned areas with a water feature and gazing orbs, a mosaic seating area, punctuated with the structured planting of Ilex Crenata cones.
There is a rear ‘courtyard’ area which was an expanse of slabs. Again, in my reluctance to waste them, we lifted the odd few, laid pockets of gravel and created a pergola walkway to a triangle pergola in the far corner, which will be softened with seating, tropical plants and lighting at a later date to create the perfect cozy hideaway.
“Thank you so much Jane Hancock of Unity Garden Design and Croft Landscapes for designing and implementing such a transformation I've loved working with you on this and I'm really pleased with the end result”
